Troop 936 serves the Wekiva and Sweetwater Oaks neighborhoods in Longwood, Florida.
Our non-denominational program offers a unique experience that is not only is challenging and fun for our boys but one that also prepares them for life by incorporating the character building and leadership-development themes that are the essence of Scouting. Unlike School and Sports programs , Scouting gives boys real responsibility and helps develop organizational and leadership skills that give Scouts an advantage over their peers as they move onward in life. Not only that, but our program gives boys a chance to participate in exciting outdoor experiences that they would never get the chance to do otherwise.

Boys: Why join the Boy Scouts?
Fun - In the last year, our boys have had a blast in Troop 936. They have gone to the mountains in Tennessee, slept under a Saturn V Rocket at Kennedy Space Center and got to scare the daylights out of Cub Scouts at the Haunted House at Camp LaNoChe. We have even bigger and better plans for 2008! Join us for the fun and adventure!
Friends - The guys in our Troop will tell you that their best friends are some of the other boys in Troop 936. Unlike school classes and sports, where you only get to know guys for a short while, in Scouts, you get to spend years with the same group of buddies.
Freedom - Scouts is a BOY-RUN organization. Unlike most everything else in your life, where parents and other adults run the show, in Boy Scouts, the boys make most of the decisions. The boys run the meetings and decide what events the Troop will participate in.
Parents: Why would Scouts be good for your son?
Leadership - Since the early 1900s, Boy Scouts has been an organization that teaches boys leadership by putting them in positions of authority and then letting them learn by doing. This gives Scouts an advantage over their peers when they get into the ‘real world.’
Responsibility - Your son will be given responsibilities in the Troop that will help him develop his maturity by giving him experience in planning and organizing. We are also actively involved in community service projects that teach our boys the necessity of helping others less fortunate than ourselves.
Nature - In today’s world, many boys are so focused on sports, schools and video games, that they spend very little time outside. Our Scouting program involves an average of one outdoor activity per month (camping, hiking, etc.) and gives boys chances to appreciate nature that they would otherwise not have.
Peers - Your son’s peers will have a great impact on just what kind of young man he will become. Scouting attracts the cream of the crop…boys that set good examples for your son.
Bonding - In this day and age, finding opportunities to have Quality Time with your son at home can be a challenge for many of us. However, since parents can participate in our activities, it gives you chances to spend time with your son away from the distractions of modern life.
